Skip first got involved with Clan Douglas in the early 1980s. He helped Lt. Col. (Rt.) William Bell with the combined Clan Douglas/Clan Bell tent. First at the Clans of the Highland games in Chino, CA, and then at other Southern California games. The U.S.S. game at Costa Mesa and the North County Scots game in San Marcos (now in Vista, CA).
As soon as he could get his own tent and supplies, about 1983, he started an individual Clan Douglas Tent. Not too long after that, he was appointed Co-Regent for Clan Douglas, representing Southern California; an area roughly from Bakersfield south to the Mexican border.
Skip continued to represent Clan Douglas through 2 heart attacks and other minor disasters until 2001. He passed away Sept. 13, 2001. |
